Cats and remembrance

Andy is our other cat, sister to George the Terror. Andy is a quiet unassuming cat, who adheres to the Kitty Rule Book maxim of 22 hours a day of sleep. Sometimes, she exceeds that amount.

Andy will come running when she hears that magic plastic crinkle in the kitchen (ever notice that Kitchen begins with K-I-T?) Then it is required to serve her (and George, but get the order right) treats and interrupt the process going on in the kitchen.

She also adheres to another Kitty Rule that when asking for treats, never remember that you just had some two minutes ago. By Distinctly-Not-Remembering, then you have the chance of getting more treats, because, you know, the stupid human will not remember that you just had some treats.

When Andy asks for treats, you need to go find George. He may be "asleep" on the bed, or the couch, but he is alert when you bring him the treats. He eats them in the spot where you find him, he cannot be bothered with moving to get the treats.

We used to live in Tucson, and had an enclosure that I thought was escape proof. One day, as I walked up to the guest house, I found a black cat. She was very friendly, and it turns out it was really Sera, our smart cat at the time. I took it back home, and checked the enclosure. I thought it was still escape proof, it had fencing as roofing, and I had tied up all the openings with various pieces of fencing.

Well, next night, I found Sera again in the same spot. Again, I checked the openings. Well, Sera decided that she would show me how she escaped. She jumped up on the down spout and climbed up the downspout and slithered out the opening at the top of the downspout. I thought she could not get up there, but ha, what do I know.  A quick look down at the stupid human and off she went, trotting along the roof edge. I quickly ran and got my ladder and after some 3 stooges antics, managed to gather Sera up. Needless to say, the enclosure was blocked off until I could truly make it Sera-proof.  She tried a few more times, but at last it was Sera-proof.

There are more enclosure tales to come.
